The Northern Oasis Hafla rides again!
We miss having our friends over to play music and dance all night, so we're finally hosting another hafla at our place. Details below:
Bring your instruments and your favorite hip belts or scarves, and
come over to our place to shimmy and play music all night long with
friends. We'll have tasty middle eastern snackage and our usual
homemade chai, and lots of room to dance, play music, or just lounge
and show off your jewelry:-)
When: Saturday, January 24th, 2009, beginning at 7pm
Where: AEcern (Safiya & Nott's house), Kitchener, Ontario (write to me if you want details/directions)
Coming from afar? Crash space available (let us know in advance, if possible- we do have several out-of-town/international guests coming already). Children, friends, partners welcome! Send me mail on tribe if you have questions...

Wed, January 21, 2009 - 11:15 AMDamn, I was hoping I would be there... but I'm still totally 'effed up from surgery, with a right arm that doesn't exactly work. Makes driving kind of difficult. :-(
So now you all must go forth and have fun FOR me. I mean it! Have enough fun for two people, or three people if you are JT. And report back! :-P -

Wed, January 21, 2009 - 5:45 PMdamn, zim, we were hoping you'd just magically be able to show up... but that surgery stuff seems to take longer to wear off than it's supposed to, i know. rest up, keep warm and we'll have fun for you (someone's got to do it!:). seriously, we'll be thinking of you, and we'll plan a spring one, so now you have a hard deadline for getting better.

I finally got to met all the people I've only heard of and how cool was it to see a snake shed its skin in front of all those party guests! Wild!
Even the snake was having a good time. -

Mon, January 26, 2009 - 3:49 PMYeah, the snake sort of set a new standard, didn't she? Someone taking their clothes off at a party seems awfully boring now, doesn't it? Not sure how we'll top that next time, but we'll try:) We had a fantastic turnout and a fabulous time!
Thanks to our faithful regulars, our long distance friends who drove forever in the cold, and all the new people who decided to give it a try and get up and dance or play music with us! Northern Oasis has always been a community event, and it's all of you who make it such a great time.
